Lance Armstrong
On the front page of CNN.com, there was an article about how Armstrong is contemplating returning to the Tour de France next year simply to "rankle" the French media, as he put it. It just amazes me how one athlete can consume so much of not just the sports page, but the front page coverage. He is the poster child for fighting cancer here in America. Does the fact that he might have tested positive for doping during his first Tour victory suggest he is a fiend and no longer worthy of praise? The French media thinks so, and they don't use the phrase "might have", they use "did". No one is above scrutiny in the French media. Supposedly, the same is true in the US. But the Armstrong story does not go much further than discussing his LIVESTRONG bracelets and fighting cancer, despite how prominent a figure/hero he is in America and France. So I step back and think, what should I believe to be true from the media about anything when two different sources give me two different stories about the same thing?
